Garage Conversions
Converting a garage is one of the easiest ways of getting extra space in your home, without adding an entire room. By taking care of waterproofing, opening up windows and bringing up a wall, you can convert your garage into a bedroom or family room. Remember, that a garage conversion will include electric and plumbing work, and installation of heating and cooling systems. You can also create additional storage space to continue using your garage to hold seasonal items and materials, household and gardening tools etc.
Your garage conversion plan should include co ordination with the rest of the house. For instance, if you are replacing the garage door with a window, make sure it blends in with the other windows of the house. The point is to make it look like it's an integral part of the house. When it comes to interiors however, you can let your imagination run wild. Ask your garage contractor about upgrades to be made to the roof and walls. If you have a flat roof, you may need to upgrade it before you invest in converting the garage into a livable space.
Before beginning your garage addition project, make sure you have all necessary Memphis, TN area building permits in place. Some areas may not allow garages to be used for certain purposes. If there are emergency exit requirements, these will have to be met too. Take care of such legal or structural formalities before you begin your garage conversion project.
